Testimonials

Over the nearly two decades of running Red Beet Records I’ve worked with a dozen different publicists, and my go-to guy to spread the word on our music is Adam Dawson and Broken Jukebox Media. Whatever music we release — records by my band Last Train Home, my trio with Peter Cooper and Thomm Jutz, music from soul singer Jerry Lawson, country singer Fayssoux, and compilations of East Nashville musicians — Adam gets it, and knows how to best get it the attention it deserves. He understands the fast changing world of media: print outlets, radio stations, bloggers, vloggers, influencers, playlist makers, tiktokers, insta-stars… He bounces things off satellites, sends them through the mail, shimmers it down the phone line. He gets your music to the right people, and gets them to sit up and pay attention to it. Whenever I start to make music, Adam is the first person I call to get the conversation started about what has to happen next.

-Eric Brace, Red Beet Records, Last Train Home, Cooper/Brace/Jutz Trio

I’ve been a part of the music industry for my entire adult life and at various times have held
positions as a staff writer for DreamWorks, EMI, as a record producer, as chief of A&R for
Atlantic Records to heading up Bugle Publishing Group which was an international music
publishing house. All these positions were held in Nashville, Tn. To support those companies I
worked with PR companies big and small, local, and international throughout my varied career.
There are few industries that rely as heavily on solid public relations as the entertainment
world. Without the right representation a great artist will most likely go unheralded lost among
the scores of music released daily. As a recording and touring artist I looked high and low for
the right fit for me personally for my recent album release From Where I Stand (blatant self-
promotion.) I had a list of needs one of which was accessibility by phone and not just e-mail.
Adam Dawson and Broken Jukebox Media offered that one on one connection while clicking off
all my other requirements. Paying someone that I could only communicate with by e-mail was
not an option. I figure if a PR company can’t verbally talk to their client how can they represent
them to the world at large? 5 Stars

As I like to say, despite our love of songs and songwriters and the great artists doing them, we are unfortunately in the “music BUSINESS.”
The great thing in working with Adam, is he makes it the “MUSIC business.”
Passion, commitment, follow through… all those rare traits are the things that Adam brings to the table. I love working with Adam and utilizing him as a secret weapon on projects – but he’s not a secret… he’s the real deal!

-Brian Brinkerhoff, Need To Know Music, Client

It’s a real pleasure working with Adam. He’s all about the music and getting it out there. A real advocate for your work, just what every recording artist needs.

-RB Morris, Songwriter, Client

Adam Dawson is reliably responsive, gracious, and loves the right music passionately. These are traits every publicist should have. Many fall short. Not Adam Dawson.

-Jim Hynes, Independent Music Scribe

Adam Dawson proved to be a mighty member of our promotion team. His belief in the music and dedication to the project helped us get I Can Face the Truth onto 5 different radio charts and 3 end of year best of charts. Adam is always readily available to consult and strategize, and open to new ideas. As both a publicist and a radio promoter Adam Dawson and Broken Jukebox Media gave me a huge bang for my bucks. Plus, Adam’s easy nature and self deprecating humor make him a joy to work with.

-Dana Cooper, Songwriter, Client

Adam Dawson is a seamless Radio and Press Department rolled up into one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. As a busy full-time musician and mother of three small children, I just did not have the time to send out hundreds of CD’s and chase down all the media contacts necessary to get the word out about my first album release in seven years. I really debated even doing press or radio for my new record. Just thinking about it stressed me out!  Along came Adam, and took all of that off my hands. He handled everything and took my record farther than I had expected it to go. He literally knows everyone, as in, every single person I mentioned his name to, perked up and sang his praises. And he’s a great guy, always reachable, easy to talk to and passionate about music. Highly recommended.

-Angela Easterling, Songwriter, Client

If you are promoting an album to the world, you want Adam Dawson and Broken Jukebox Media in your corner!  In addition to a significant airplay, my album “The Beauty of It All” received a whole lot more exposure in terms of reviews and features than any of my previous releases. He works his magic because his magic is how hard he works for you!

-Brian Kalinec, Songwriter, Owner Berkalin Records, Client

“Adam is a calming presence in the sometimes-nerve-wracking exercise of album promotion. He answered all our questions, and his genuine enthusiasm for our music was always front and center. Plus – folks open his envelopes! He’s earned that kind of trust from the DJs, podcasters, and publications. We enjoyed working with Adam and appreciate his work promoting our album.”

– Miles & Mafale, Songwriters, Clients

As Senior Editor at DittyTV, it’s always a pleasure working with Adam. First, he’s accessible and accommodating, which is definitely not a guarantee in this business. You can tell from the results that he does his best to line up interviews and provide materials in a timely fashion. Next, he gives a little love in return. I do my job the same way whether I or DittyTV get private or public thanks, but I know that with Adam I’ll get a “thank-you” and that the article I’ve written will be publicized as much as he can. And finally, while we’ve never met, he seems to be just an all-around good guy. That combination is really all one can ask for in a publicist.

-Tim W. Jackson, Senior Editor Ditty TV

Adam Dawson from Broken Jukebox Media is a gem. He is hardworking, organized and inventive – always prowling for new angles and ideas to push a project out into the world. I’ve worked with many publicists over the years and Adam is as good at the job as any. He’s a true believer and makes things happen.

-Rod Picott, Songwriter, Client

Adam Dawson has taken me, and my wife, Chris, from a now and then regional Texas act, to a full time national touring act in just under five years.  In short, he’s helped us accomplish what I’ve been unable to do for my entire career. We call him “Coach”; now I’m terrible at athletics, but you can count on him to help your team bust through a line anytime. He’s a tried and true Americana music fan and one of the good ones, that guy.

-Adam Carroll, Songwriter, client

A number of years ago, I read what was probably one of Adam Dawson’s Broken Jukebox blogs and he talked about the old guard and the new guard in Americana music or something like that. He had included Adam on a list of MVP’s of songwriting, and I’m probably getting this all wrong, but at any rate we started communicating. He was determined to get us touring which meant an overhaul of everything we had been doing to date. He helped get the word out on Adam’s 2014 release “Let It Choose You” because it hadn’t reached people in the way that it should’ve. He became a fan of my record “Trouble & Time”, that I released later that year, and he did the same thing for me. He’s now our MVP, and we couldn’t do what we do without him. I told him “put us in Coach” so many times that it just stuck.

-Chris Carroll, Songwriter, client

Adam Dawson is the kind of publicist every artist would love to have: he’s enthusiastic and passionate about his clients’ music, he doggedly pursues every review opportunity for them, and he works hard to get the word about their music into every possible channel. He’s the just-right combination of fan and an advocate.

-Henry Carrigan, No Depression, Living Blues, Author

Adam Dawson is a trusted colleague. I can count on him to do what he says. His work ethic, attention to detail, and promotional skills and ideas were a pleasure to work with at all times. I feel fortunate to have him working on my behalf.

-Terri Hendrix, Artist, Client

Adam Dawson takes great care in following up with his radio clients. Nothing gets lost at the bottom of the stack when Adam is on the case!

-Jon Colcord, Host Out of the Woods Radio Show

One of the best things about working with Adam is now I have a friend who I can geek out about music with. It’s clear he is passionate about what he does and that shines through in his work. He was communicative every step of the way and I felt I had a true advocate for my music. I look forward to working with Adam and Broken Jukebox Media again.

-Tyler Fortier (Last Year’s Man), Songwriter, Client

“Broken Jukebox Media was the best experience I’ve had with a publicist & radio promoter in 25 years. More than just thoroughly checking all the boxes—with outstanding follow-up & tracking—Adam’s singular love & respect for the artist fuels the quality of his work. Transparent and uniquely responsive, he’s a throwback to the days when your client was also your friend. I was a remedial case, launching a comeback album after a decade of silence, during a pandemic, needing a big push on short notice in a tiny window of the high-volume season. Without flinching, Adam gave the project everything it deserved and more. He got me back on the Biz radar. I’m making another album so I can work with him again as soon as possible.”

-John Shipe, Songwriter, Client

I’ve been really blessed in my career to work with some great people. I’ve sat in and recorded with some of my heroes. I’ve worked with producers who’ve made records I grew up learning to love music from. I’ve also been swindled, lied to , and taken advantage of by some people too. I say all that to say this….. working with Adam Dawson at Broken Jukebox Media has been a highlight of my life. It’s hard to find people who don’t treat you like a transaction in this cut throat business. Adam lives for the music and his genuine enthusiasm for his work is infectious. He’s become a brother in arms, a friend , and a radio promoter/publicist that I can count on in a world where the things you can count on become fewer by the day. I can depend on Adam to get the job done and I’m blessed to have him on my team.

-Mark Cline Bates, Songwriter, Client

Adam is definitely the best publicist we have worked with! He straightforward, hardworking, honest and a has a genuine love of music. Working with Adam, we feel that we have both an advocate and partner; one who works hard on each opportunity to get music he is passionate about out into the world. And a bonus, he has one heck of a sense of humor!

-Maria Francis, Silver Lake 66, Client

We’ve all had that friend that has the music collection you envy. Adam Dawson is that friend. The want to find out about new music and cool artists is made easier by Broken Jukebox Media; as a music writer and manager of a music-centric community radio station, I know this organization will always push the good stuff my way, and be quick to respond to inquiries when I’m searching for the good stuff.

-Bryant Liggett, Station Manager KDUR, Freelance Writer

Adam Dawson’s encyclopedic knowledge and love of music and musicians is absolutely unsurpassed and it’s well known among writers that his taste is impeccable.  On top of that he’s a genuinely nice person.  In terms of the music business, his company, Broken Jukebox Media, is simply the most prepared publicity enterprise a writer and magazine could ask to work with. They’ll provide everything in advance so you’ll never have to ask twice, then he’ll follow up politely anyway with his balanced capacity for gracious relentlessness.

Melissa Clarke, Editor Americana Highways

After having been burned more times than a $2 steak by unscrupulous big house PR companies in the past, it was a true pleasure working with Adam Dawson – a tireless champion of the under-sung and one of the most honest, soulful and hard working people you’ll ever meet. You might not be looking for a friend when searching out a publicist, but you’re going to get one when you work with Adam. He’s one of the best friends my music has ever had.

-Ben de la Cour, Songwriter, client

I am so very grateful that I made the decision to work with Adam / Broken Jukebox Media on a full publicity and radio campaign for my new record. Not only is he getting my album all of the quality press coverage and radio play that I feel it deserves, but he’s helped me refine, re-frame, re-organize and gain confidence in myself and my career as an artist.
Adam is professional, organized, patient, very prompt and approaches everything in a level-headed manner with a very healthy sense of humor. He does exactly what he says he’s doing to to.
In him, I have found a true advocate for my music, which is difficult to come by these days, and a life-long friend.

-Jane Kramer, Songwriter, client

For Adam, the core of it is that he loves music. And when he finds music he really loves, he wants the whole world to know about it. He’s almost impossibly diligent and responsive and he organizes things in a way that it’s easy for artists to understand. When you work with Adam, you’re gaining a friend, an advocate, and someone who believes in what you do. In a business where there’s no shortage of people who’ll take your money and then move on to the next project, that means something

-Terry Klein, Songwriter, client

Adam Dawson (AKA Coach) promotes for the love of music not the almighty dollar. He believes in what he promotes or he doesn’t promote it. It’s honest promoting! I came into it knowing absolutely nothing about promoting my music and he patiently guided me every step of the way. Coach works hard and the results definitely show!

-Chad Richard, Songwriter, client

Adam Dawson is like working with your brother who has the cooler record collection! He’s fearless. He’s enthusiastic. Works his butt off for his artists. He’s a true believer. I only work with him anymore.

-Jefferson Ross, Songwriter, client

As a volunteer radio programmer with a weekly music show and various other irons in the fire, I have come to rely on Adam Dawson as a dependable bell-weather of new-to-me talent.  Adam’s ear and his instincts are dead on, and he has never sent me anything to preview that was not both right up my alley stylistically and also of really high quality.  I look forward to working with Adam for many, many years to come.

 – Thomas Carnes KFAN, Fredricksburg, TX

I didn’t really know how much I didn’t know about promoting a new record. I’d never done it before, never had the budget, never believed I was in a position to achieve what he has achieved for me. Adam took my record “Old Ghosts & Lost Causes” and sent it out into the world of DJs, bloggers, and critics. Even though I’ve been in Nashville writing songs for years, he took me from relative obscurity, as an artist, to starting to build name recognition in the Americana/Folk market. He never promised what he couldn’t deliver. He was realistic in setting my expectations. Then he helped this record exceed my expectations! Adam is a cool guy, knows music, loves songs and songwriters. The fact that he is personable and relational goes a long way toward getting the projects he works to the right hands and the right ears! Because of his connections, now I hear from people worldwide who are listening or featuring my songs on their stations. I am so glad someone recommended Adam to me and I highly recommend him to others!

-Helene Cronin, Songwriter, Client

Adam Dawson puts music in the hands of reviewers who will understand the artist’s concept behind the album. He knows his artists, his reviewers and how to pair the two for the best promotion possible. If you want a media representative who gets where you are coming from and where you want to go then Broken Jukebox Media is the place you need to be.

-Kelly Henkins, writer Country Angel

First and foremost, Adam is a music fan. If he’s working your project, you have a tireless advocate, not just a publicist. That passion helped spread the word on my album further than I could’ve imagined. He put me in a great position for future projects too. For an independent artist like me, Adam was the perfect fit.
